Good-looking or cool-running? We settle it once and for all.
Aquarium-style cases have found a firm place among computer builds of all kinds. The omnipresent glass in these cases shamelessly shows off the installed components, delighting owners and everyone else at home. Guests, meanwhile, should be left with their jaws on the floor. Let's not kid ourselves: if your components cost a fortune and were painstakingly matched, it's a shame to keep them hidden behind panels. Even if one of those panels is tempered glass. And since people have always simply liked surrounding themselves with nice things, the current design of PC components such as motherboards, RAM, graphics cards and CPU coolers comes as no surprise.
Of course, so many cases, computers and configurations, so many opinions. This processor is better, that power supply, don't get that drive, only this graphics card makes sense, and so on. The same goes for PC cases. "Don't get one with glass unless you want an oven": you seem to hear that voice in your head whenever you look at cases like the Volcano Stellar. But nothing of the sort. It uses solutions that aren't far behind those "airy" cases with a perforated front. That's because when you choose, say, the Volcano Stellar 8F, you get as many as eight fans, configured for the lowest possible temperatures. The three fans on the side have reversed blades, so they push cool air inside. Those at the top and rear of the case push the "heat" out. And speaking of the interior, the Volcano Stellar has a folding fan frame. By setting it at the right angle, you direct cool air straight onto the graphics card, lowering its temperature and ensuring quieter operation.
So if the dilemma of good-looking or cool-running has been bothering you until now, you can consider the matter closed, because we've combined the two.
