MODECOM Volcano Hex 850W Platinum: the power supply that will be a game changer?
Can anyone still stir things up in the PC power supply market? It looks like they can.
The MODECOM Volcano Hex 850W Platinum has just been released, a power supply that has drawn very strong opinions from the first reviews and clearly shows that this design has top-shelf ambitions. And... its price can surprise you.
Industry reviews say it outright: "it will shake up the market"
The new MODECOM power supply quickly landed on the workbenches of industry publications, and their verdicts are remarkably consistent.
ITHardware sums up its test unequivocally:
"The fact is that Modecom is sending a very strong competitor to market, based on a solid platform, with good electronics, stable electrical parameters, a long 10-year warranty and a markedly more favourable price. I rate the Modecom Volcano HEX 850 W Platinum 8.5/10, awarding it the recommendation and value distinction. This power supply can really shake up the Polish market (...)."
PurePC is just as enthusiastic:
"The Modecom Volcano HEX 850 W Platinum will be the cheapest ATX 3.1 power supply with a Cybenetics Platinum certificate, detachable cables and a ten-year warranty (...). The Modecom Volcano HEX 850 W Platinum is a piece of hardware worth recommending and may yet shake up the market considerably."
The 3D Info team, meanwhile, highlights what matters most in a good power supply:
"The power supply is probably the least exciting component in a computer. Paradoxically, that is exactly why choosing one is so important. In this case, MODECOM has done exactly what is expected of a good power supply: it runs stably and efficiently and doesn't draw attention to itself. In this category, that is the greatest compliment."
